I have struggled with this randomly working and not working for weeks now, and finally got to spend a few hours on it while I was attempting to print 300 or so flyers. To recap (and clarify), while printing a large document, the printer would stop printing, and eventually cancel the print job. The monitor software just said communication error. I suppose that should have been a clue.

After a complete re-install of the drivers, and even considering the power supply to it for a while, I decided to try connecting some way other than wireless. First I tried an ethernet connection, but this did not help at all, the same problem occurred within a few pages. So I bit the bullet, dragged the printer close enough to plug it in, and tried a USB connection. Lo and behold – success! I printed 20 or 30 pages, including double sided without a hitch!

So the good news is the printer is capable of producing A3 prints or high quality photos without wasting more ink and paper (which todate must have cost me at least $100!). I even feel I can now invest in some A3+ paper for those special photos.

The bad news is, having paid for a wireless printer, I now have a printer which is plugged into one PC which will produce the large prints, and wirelessly connected for those small jobs off other PCs. Fortunately I have been able to locate it in a reasonable place and wire it up without stringing cables all over the place.

Obviously I have more work discovering the faults with the router in the shop, or deciding which settings I have wrong on the printer or router. More later, I am sure this thing will cause more issues!

Well despite what I said at the end of the post below, this was no where near fixed (and still isn’t).
