\nPrinted in Creality PLA on my Creality Ender 3 V3 SE and the culmination of a couple of weeks refettling and retuning the printer.<\/p>\n

I bought the printer in December 2024 as a gift to myself to celebrate the end of my radiation treatment. After 7 months, it was getting a bit unmanageable, as in poor prints and unpredictable results from changes made. So I embarked on a voyage of discovery.<\/p>\n

Firstly I replaced the nozzle, the old one was very dirty, and appeared to be about .05 too big.<\/p>\n

While doing the replacement, I realized the printer head was quite loose, so I tighten up the tram wheels on the X axis beam, and went looking for other screws which were a bit loose.<\/p>\n

Finally I addressed the build plate level, which was fairly consistently about 2mm out from one corner to the diagonally to opposite corner. I printed a variety of washers from 1.5 to 2mm, and played with it until the levelling came out to about 0.2mm across the corners. As a result, I only had to add another 0.05mm to my Z offset to get good adhesion and good detail in the first layer.<\/p>\n
