Hi, I am based in Porirua Wellington, and have just finished building two ebikes (photo of mine below). I converted two Giant Elwood SE comfort bikes (21 speed Shimano gears), using Bafang 8Fun rear wheel motors, Headway 15AH LiFePO4 batteries, generic controllers and controls, so nothing too flash or technical. These bikes were intended to be ridden not drooled over! I commute most days on mine, either 10km, 100metes of climb or 16km, 160metres of climb depending on how I am feeling about the traffic! When it gets a bit lighter in the mornings, my wife will use hers to commute to her job as a postie too. I did a blog of the build here http://www.signsofsuccess.co.nz/category/electric-bikes/ which should put people off the idea of building their own bikes!
Looking forward to reading more news on your page, keep up the good work!

I think I qualify for membership in the small van category. This is Squirrel, our Mitsubishi Miev Minicab van, a whopping 3.4 meters long! On the back we use an awning over the back door from intenze.co.nz, which means the whole of the interior 1.9 x 1.35 metre space is for sleeping. In February we drove from Wellington to Little River on the Banks Peninsula, and only had to recharge 17 times (its electric). Looking forward to sharing ideas for space-saving and packing stuff into small spaces.

What kind of charger is this? It's not a Veefil or a Delta, how do i refer to it? This is at Waipukurau, and there is one at Hastings, and I visited one very similar at Little River on the Banks Peninsula. When i use this type, they charge much faster than Veefils, eg at 80% charged it is still pushing 14 kW into my van, when the Veefil would be at 7kW. The result is that the charger throws an error because of a communication fault and stops. My van then shows an active error code (the charge inducator flashes continuously when the van is being driven). The code can be fixed by charging at a veefil station, but inactive codes are left in the system. Has anyone else had problems with these chargers?

Yay, naked Delta charger going in at Moore Wilsons in Porirua! Great news for those of us who struggle with the Pak'n'Save access, and are happy with 25kW.

On our big road trip from Porirua to Alexandra in Squirrel our Miev Minicab. Topping up at Lincoln New World, and as well as us fast charging there were 3 Leafs and a Tesla 3 all slow charging. Across the road at some research place, 2 more Leafs parked up. Mainstream or what?

We have just completed 250km bike packing around Central Otago, New Zealand (Clutha Gold Trail, Roxburgh Gorge Trail and the Central Otago Rail Trail. Pictured is my wife and her GSD S10, fully loaded with her share of camping gear. Not shown is my Yuba Mundo V4 with the rest if the gear. GSD has been faultless and a joy to ride for 6 days of terrain varing from River Side trails, steep gorges, and very easy rail trails.

Hitchikers. One on the left found on the charger at Palmerston, middle one was jammed into the chademo plug at Alexandra and was stopping the plug being fully inserted, the rare blue one was sitting in the charge plug, undamaged at Waimate. All in the last week or so , travelling to and home from Cromwell. Others are finding them too.

Hi, my Yuba Mundo v4 came with Kenda 26 by 2.125 tyres, and i am about to swap out the second of them. The first on the back got quite worn by 3000kms, but i swapped it because the fabric carcase ripped, causing swelling and lumps in the tyre, making it unrideable. The front has a few months of wear to go, but i just noticed distortion and swelling in that too. Anybody else have this issue with Kendas on their yuba, or do i just thrash my tyres. I weigh over 100kg (240lbs) so have the pressures quite high, but the Kenda max is 40psi. Replacing with Shwalbe Super Moto X 26x2.4s, they work well so far, and the 20" version works well in my wifes Tern GSD.

This is my wife's gen 1, S10, with two batteries and a front rack. It's done about 5000kms, about 1000 or so were on off-road on trails like this one. This is the @[101310834625357:274:Lake Dunstan Cycle & Walking Trail] in Otago, New Zealand, the best one day ride I have ever done. It climbs to 300 metres at one point, and uses bridges cantilevered off cliffs to negotiate places where there is no room for a trail. If you are in NZ, or ever come here, this is a must do trail. The Tern handled it fine, the day started at -5°c, and got as warm as +5°c, and some of the ice never melted! The GSD still has its original Schwalbe Super Moto X tyres, and most of the trail was no problems at all. Summer, winter, on or off road, this Tern does it all!
