My wife and I have been using these Rear Viz mirrors for a couple of years while riding our electric bikes. They are a perfect match - easy to use and exactly where we want them while we whizz in and out of the traffic! We bought a third for our son who was about to start a trip of the South Island of NZ, and he loved it too.
Just finished a cool project. Created a wifi garage door opener using an Onion Omega 2+ and a relay expansion board. It has a web cam so that I can check if it is safe to open/close either door, and an activation button for each door. Uses relays attached to the manual switch connections for the garage doors. A web page is generated in PHP on the Omega, which can be accessed by any device on the home network. Very convenient when working outside with just the phone in my pocket, or coming back from a bike ride or walk without a garage remote in my pocket!

Squirrel the electric Minicab van is still keeping us amused and interested! Every trip is more fun, travelling 60kms for just $2.00 is always going to be fun!
I replaced the rather horrible standard radio that came with the vehicle (a Clarion radio, with the loudspeaker actually built into the front of the radio!) with a Sony head unit like this one https://www.hyperdrive.co.nz/product/68617/sony-xav-w651bt-head-unit. Interesting to fit, purchased some speakers which I fitted into the door pods (which came empty!), and wired in the reversing camera and the handbrake switch, so all functionality was enabled - watching DVDs, reversing camera, blue tooth phones, MP3s of 1000+ tracks (a lot of classical music so over 20 minutes each in a lot of cases) on a 32GB USB nano drive.
Up to 3800kms as of yesterday. And it is still turning heads!
Once again, big thanks to GVI https://www.gvielectric.kiwi/ for supplying the car

Squirrel has now done 10,000 kms (in 10 months) and is going really well. Indicated range is between 103 and 111 kms each morning, and either we are getting better at driving frugally, or the van is getting more economical. The latter I think, as we still have a bit of a blast driving it some days. A very squirtable drive!
Check out these two beauties! Squirrel, our electric Mitsubishi Minicab miev, cuddling up to NZ Post's electric LDV EV80, on a visit to North City. Photo by Lynn Glover.

So we finally caved in and bought a leaf, or as I like to call it "Just another silver hatchback". 2014 X, 82% SOH, 71500 kms. Don't get me wrong, it's a great car, and will do exactly what we want it to do, but it is so boring! Compared to Squirrel, pictured with the leaf, it is heavy, expensive to run and so, so boring (or did I already mention that?). Very comfortable, a bit quieter than Squirrel, seats 5, slightly better range, and lots of bells and whistles. It also means we can get rid of our V6 Honda Odyssey and the fuel costs and service bills that go with it.

So, we made it to Lawrence in the van, no real issues. Carried on to Beaumont Hotel to find somewhere to park the van for 9 days. Set off on the bikes this morning, very cold start, but quite warm by time we got to Millers Flat. Stopped foe coffee and food, heading for Roxburgh this afternoon. Great trails, bike handling extra weight no problem.
Just changed the handlebars on the Yuba Mundo. Black bars are the new ones. Nice and straight, those swept back cruiser bars were hard on my wrists and made it difficult to control on tight corners.

Happy Birthday Beethoven🎁. I have been listening to the Violin Concerto and the 7th Symphony at full blast in the car over the last day or so. Two best pieces of music ever written! And to celebrate, i have upgraded the door speakers in the van to 6.5 inch Sony speakers so that i can really feel the music!

The best day's cycling I have ever done, exciting in parts, so much to see, even the easy parts are great to ride. The ride to the top of the Cairnmuir Staircase was my favorite bit.

Am I in a minority or a majority, in that I don't care what happens on Twitter, at Twitter or to Twitter? Getting a bit tired of media coverage of Chief Twit and all things Twitter on my Google news feeds.
